What Does it Mean to Be Certified by The American Board of Phlebology?

Phlebology is the study of veins, venous diseases and disorders. The American Board of Phlebology was established in 2007 to improve the standards of medical practitioners and the quality of patient care related to the treatment of venous vein disorders.

There are numerous practitioners in the field of phlebology with varying experience. Those doctors with superior knowledge and experience can demonstrate their expertise through certification. To become board certified, physicians must complete requisite training, meet continuing medical education requirements and pass a certification exam. The certification is a ten year certificate that is subject to maintenance certification requirements.

Certification by the American Board of Phlebology demonstrates that physicians have met rigorous standards of education, experience and evaluation. Reno Vein Clinic is proud that both of their doctors, Dr. Robert Merchant and Dr. John Daake, are certified by the American Board of Phlebology.
